This painting shows the early morning training of a coxless four on the Royal Henley Regatta course in front of the famous striped blue and white marques.

A bright and cold early morning scene, the rising sun created a golden mist across the still waters. The familiar blue and white marquees take on their own reflective colours in the water with lilac hues silhouetted against the light.
