I am often drawn to the less noticed views of familiar buildings. Here, the strong vertical forms of the Angel on the Bridge's canopy and steps caught my attention, particularly the way sunlight creates shimmering reflections on the Thames and backlights the red parasols with glowing coral tones. Using gouache and oil pastel, I explored the rich textures and dramatic contrasts between brilliant sunlight and the deep shadows of the water, walls and foreground.
