1960 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe De Ville (809 XVS)
This artwork captures the 1960 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe De Ville in an urban twilight setting, where deep graphite shadows, muted street grime and fading city light emphasise the dramatic rear wings that make this car an unmistakable mid-century icon. By placing the Cadillac within a moody city environment, the painting draws attention to the sculptural elegance of Bill Mitchell’s design—those sweeping fins, the long, low roofline and the pillarless coupe form that defines the sixth-generation Series 62.
Finished in its original Arroyo Turquoise metallic with matching turquoise leather and black buttoned cloth, this example retains the bold colour scheme and luxury specification it left the factory with, including E-Z Eye glass, air conditioning, a 6-way power seat and full electric appointments. Powered by the 390 cu. in. V8 and believed to have come from California before arriving in the UK in 2021, it remains a beautifully preserved and distinctive vehicle. The artwork’s twilight tones and urban palette were chosen to contrast its vivid factory colours, allowing the Cadillac’s signature tailfins and graceful proportions to glow against the dark city backdrop—honouring its enduring iconic status.
